Wolters Kluwer to Acquire Legal Spend Software Maker Brightflag

Dutch information services company Wolters Kluwer said Thursday it would pay €425 million in cash to acquire Brightflag, a maker of software for in-house legal departments, it said Thursday.

The deal amount, at about $482 million, ranks among the largest recent legal technology acquisitions. Thomson Reuters in 2023 acquired Casetext for $650 million.

“Wolters Kluwer shares our vision for leveraging advanced technology to enhance legal operations, and we look forward to working with the Wolters Kluwer Legal & Regulatory team to accelerate the future of legal solutions,” Ian Nolan, CEO and co-founder of Brightflag, said in a statement.
