American Airlines Loses Bid to Narrow Case Over Wi-Fi Patents

American Airlines Inc. must face allegations it infringes six patents tied to cloud computing and in-flight internet after a Texas federal judge refused to throw out parts of Intellectual Ventures I LLC’s case.

Judge Amos L. Mazzant rejected the airline’s arguments that two patents covering cloud-data management were invalid and four others related to storing and processing information online weren’t adequately pled, according to an opinion issued Tuesday in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas.
