Entropic Seeks Director Review Over Patent Invalidity Rulings

Entropic Communications LLC asked a federal judge to pause multiple infringement lawsuits after it petitioned the director of the US Patent and Trademark Office to review an administrative tribunal’s rulings invalidating patents covering methods for video and broadband internet services.

Entropic sought director review of the Patent Trial and Appeal Board’s invalidation of five patents it’s asserted in litigation against companies including Comcast Corp., according to joint motions filed in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas.
