A judge on Thursday tossed former Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva’s federal lawsuit over his placement on a county “do not rehire” list.
Villanueva lacks standing because he brought no evidence his political or employment prospects have suffered as a result, or that he applied for a job with the county or is even considering it, the judge said.
“It is hard to imagine how being placed on a Do Not Rehire list could serve as an injury if Plaintiff does not desire to be rehired,” Judge Stephen V. Wilson wrote Thursday, granting summary judgment to the county. ...
