Lawsuit Over Pro-Charlie Kirk Message Gets Settlement (2)

A North Carolina school board reached a resolution with a high school student claiming her free speech rights were violated when she was wrongly investigated for vandalism after displaying a message in tribute to deceased conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

The parties executed a settlement agreement on June 14, according to a Monday notice filed to the US District Court for Western District of North Carolina. Plaintiff G.S. sued the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Board of Education under the First Amendment in December for censoring and retaliating against her speech, among other violations under the Fourth, Fifth, and 14th Amendments.
