NBCUniversal, Peacock Defeat Privacy Suit Over App Info Sharing

NBCUniversal Media LLC and its Peacock TV LLC streaming service defeated a proposed class action alleging they shared the video-viewing information of mobile-app users with third parties in violation of the Video Privacy Protection Act.

Plaintiffs can’t manufacture jurisdiction by wholesale swapping of parties and claims, Judge Laura Taylor Swain said for the US District Court for the Southern District of New York. She rejected the plaintiffs’ motion to file an amended complaint and dismissed the lawsuit in a Monday order.
