Nordstrom Hit with Patent Suit Over Store-Mapping in Mobile App

Nearby Systems LLC sued retailer Nordstrom Inc. in a patent assertion campaign targeting mapping features in mobile apps.

Nordstrom’s app allows customers to find stores and order from the nearest retail location using methods protected by US Patent Nos. 9,532,164, 10,469,980, 11,937,145 and 12,185,177, Nearby Systems said in a complaint filed Tuesday in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas. Nearby Systems, a non-practicing entity, said Nordstrom has a practice of not reviewing patents belonging to other companies.
