Ohio’s secretary of state faces a federal lawsuit that seeks to prevent him from enforcing a new law requiring those registering to vote when obtaining a driver’s license to provide documented proof that they’re a US citizen.
HB 54, which went into effect June 30, violates the National Voter Registration Act and is unconstitutionally vague, according to the lawsuit filed Friday in the US District Court for the Northern District of Ohio.
