R.J. Reynolds Vapor Co. urged the US Supreme Court to review a jury’s $95.2 million verdict for Altria Client Services LLC, arguing a federal appeals court wrongly let jurors award inflated damages upon finding its Vuse Alto e-cigarette infringes three patents.

Reynolds, a unit of British American Tobacco Plc, asked the justices to overturn a Federal Circuit decision upholding the verdict, arguing the trial court let Altria Group Inc.'s subsidiary rely on unrelated patent licenses without apportioning value to the patented features, according to a petition for a writ of certiorari docketed Monday at the high court.
