Not much is scheduled in the Delaware Chancery Court this week, and that’s apparently according to plan.
Under a policy dating to the tenure of Chancellor Leo E. Strine Jr., who led the court from 2011 through 2014, “the court seeks to accommodate attorneys’ work life balance by not scheduling hearings or trials in August,” Vice Chancellor J. Travis Laster said in a recent filing. But, he added, “exceptions can and must be made for expedited proceedings.”
Here are some of those “exceptions” on the court’s calendar this week:
ASVRF Paterson Plank RD J-C LLC v. Brass Works Urban Renewal Co. LLC, Del. Ch., No. 2025-0549. Vice Chancellor Lori W. Will presides over a one-day trial Wednesday in a dispute over contracts regarding the management of a 120-unit residential property in Jersey City, N.J.
Beldner v. Hard Yaka Ventures GP LLC, Del. Ch., No. 2025-0504. Magistrate Loren Mitchell delivers a bench ruling Wednesday on a motion to dismiss a books-and-records demand seeking internal files from an affiliate of venture capital fund Hard Yaka Ventures LP.
