TikTok must continue to defend its platform against allegations from the state of New Jersey that it’s harmful to children, a state trial court ruled.
New Jersey Superior Court Judge Lisa M. Adubato rejected TikTok’s argument that it merely provides a neutral forum for users’ content, and not the intentionally addictive or malicious-in-design site Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin (D) alleges addicts and harms minors.
“Here, the harm arises from TikTok’s design, not by what users view,” she said in a Sept. 26 order.
