USA Powerlifting settled a lawsuit challenging the organization’s ban on transgender female athletes from competing in its women’s division, after Minnesota’s high court ruled it violated state antidiscrimination law.
USA Powerlifting acknowledged the Minnesota Supreme Court’s October ruling in the settlement agreement but denied any other liability or unlawful conduct toward JayCee Cooper, a transgender female powerlifter. USA Powerlifting also agreed to pay Cooper an undisclosed amount, according to the settlement filed in Minnesota’s Second Judicial District Court.
