Walmart Worker Who Reported Harassment Complaints Gets Firing Trial

A trial is needed to determine if Walmart Inc. retaliated against an employee for calling its ethics hotline to report other workers’ sexual harassment concerns and an assistant manager’s failure to act, a federal court ruled.

The questions for a jury include whether Andrea Garcia’s call caused her termination, the US District Court for the Eastern District of Washington said. Walmart says Garcia was fired for attendance issues, but the timing could prove otherwise, the court said.
