Warrantless Ohio Immigration Arrests Targeted in Class Action

Immigration agents, when targeting noncitizens in Ohio, are doing so illegally, without warrants and assessments that show the person is likely to flee if not detained, according to a proposed class action filed Wednesday.

Federal law and longstanding case law require agents to establish probable cause to show a person will be deported and are likely to evade agents before a warrant can be obtained, said the lawsuit filed against the Department of Homeland Security, officials, and lower agencies.
