Web Ad Firms Sued Under Biden Rule Over China Data Transfers (1)

A Microsoft Corp. subsidiary and a Canada-based advertising platform were hit with separate lawsuits over their sharing of US consumers’ personal data with Chinese-owned entities in violation of a Biden-era regulation.

The lawsuits appear to be the first to be filed in federal courts alleging violations of the Bulk Sensitive Data Rule, which sought to restrict data flows to China, Russia, Iran, and other “countries of concern” and took effect earlier this year.
