Diversified Energy Nears Deal for Maverick Natural, WSJ Says

Alabama-based Diversified Energy Co. is in advanced talks to buy Maverick Natural Resources in what would be its biggest acquisition ever, the Wall Street Journal reported.

Such a deal would value private equity-owned Maverick at $1.3 billion, people familiar with the potential deal told the newspaper, and the combined company would be worth about $3.8 billion. The deal, which would include debt, could be announced as soon as Monday.
