Sumitomo Forestry Acquires US Homebuilder for ¥650 Billion

Sumitomo Forestry will acquire Tri-Point Homes, a US based homebuilder, for around $4.281 billion (¥657 billion) with the acquisition scheduled to close in the second quarter of 2026, the company said in a statement.

The move aims to further expand Sumitomo Forestry’s US single-family housing business, entering new regions where it currently has no presence, and integrating businesses in the housing value chain, including lumber operations. Following the acquisition, Sumitomo Forestry will supply 18,000 homes annually, making it the fifth biggest builder in the US.
