Cleary Gottlieb Hires New Head of Activism Defense Practice

Sebastian Alsheimer joined Cleary Gottlieb as a partner and head of its shareholder engagement and activism defense practice in New York, the firm announced Tuesday.

Alsheimer focuses exclusively on shareholder activism and has worked on more than 400 activism situations. He has represented both blue chip companies and prominent activist investors, and brings to the firm a deep understanding of the activist playbook and how to defend against it, the firm said.

He joins from another international law firm.
