Marshall Wace Alleges Citadel ‘Bullying’ Over Credit Head Hire

Marshall Wace accused Citadel of trying to bully it with subpoenas seeking information about the UK hedge fund’s recruitment of Daniel Shatz, a former Citadel portfolio manager, as its global credit head.

In a Thursday filing in Manhattan state court, Marshall Wace asked a judge to toss subpoenas connected to a dispute in arbitration between Shatz and Citadel. Marshall Wace said it was not a party to that matter and the information sought wasn’t relevant. It said the subpoenas were “designed to unnecessarily harass, burden and inconvenience” a rival.
