NYC Mayor Mamdani Backs Governor Hochul’s Reelection Bid (2)

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani has backed the state’s governor, Kathy Hochul, in her reelection bid, a key endorsement from one of the most influential progressive voices in the nation.

Mamdani made the announcement in a column in The Nation on Thursday, saying the governor’s decision to work with him to advance free childcare programs helped convinced him to endorse her.

While both Hochul and Mamdani are Democrats, they have differences on fiscal policy and approaches to Israel, with divisions flaring up recently over how much to tax the state’s richest residents and corporations.
