NY MTA Looks for $675 Million of Extra Cuts to Close Budget Gaps

New York City’s transit network, the largest in the US, is looking for $675 million in extra cuts over the next four years by trimming any unnecessary costs they can find.

The state-run Metropolitan Transportation Authority, which operates the the city’s subways, buses and commuter rail lines, is phasing out its iconic yellow MetroCard, planning to lower maintenance costs by replacing older commuter-rail train cars, and using artificial intelligence to streamline its supply needs, according to a Wednesday budget presentation.
