Trump to Tout SALT Cap Boost in Trip to Lawler’s NY District (1)

President Donald Trump is slated to travel to New York on Friday to tout his economic record ahead of November midterms, visiting the district of Mike Lawler, one of the most vulnerable House Republicans seeking reelection.

Lawler, who represents a swing suburban district north of New York City, brushed aside concerns that Trump’s appearance might pose a risk to his candidacy. Trump is expected to highlight the higher cap for the state and local tax, or SALT, deductions in last year’s tax-and-spending package, the Republican lawmaker said.
