Anti-Abortion Groups Challenge Michigan Labor Discrimination Law

A prominent anti-abortion group and a Christian pregnancy resource center sued Michigan officials Friday to prevent enforcement against them of part of the state’s employment law that bars discrimination against those who had an abortion.

Michigan legislators amended the state’s civil rights law in 2023 to include abortion where the life of the mother wasn’t in danger in its definition of “sex,” a change made after voters in 2022 enshrined reproductive rights in the state constitution.
