Universal Pictures Sued Over Sharing of Viewing Info With Meta

Universal Pictures Home Entertainment LLC shared the video-watching information of users of its Gruv.com DVD-distribution service with Meta Platforms Inc. without their consent in violation of the Video Privacy Protection Act, a proposed federal class action said.

The lawsuit is part of a wave of privacy litigation against providers of video content challenging their use of online tracking tools provided by third-party software companies including Meta, Google LLC, and TikTok Inc.
