Gas stations in California would be allowed to sell blends of gasoline containing up to 15% ethanol under a bill approved by the state Senate on Wednesday.
State law only allows the sale of gasoline with up to 10% ethanol and regulators have been studying the change to what is known as E15 for more than five years.
The bill (AB 30) passed Wednesday by a vote of 39-0 would allow the sale of E15 until regulators at the California Air Resources Board make a final decision on approval.
