The FDA is asking a district court for six more months to decide whether it will set limits on the amount of PFAS that can be in food.
The Food and Drug Administration submitted a motion to the US District Court for the District of Arizona Wednesday asking the court to give the agency until June 30, 2026, to respond to a citizen’s petition and subsequent lawsuit seeking limits.
The court originally set Wednesday as the deadline, but more time is needed due to a change in the citizens’ request and unforeseen circumstances, the FDA said.
