A Johnson & Johnson subsidiary urged a Virginia federal court to force three medical experts to disclose who’s funding their defense in a trade libel lawsuit over a scientific paper linking cosmetic talc to mesothelioma.
Pecos River LLC said doctors Theresa Emory, Richard Kradin, and John Maddox may have received financial support from Simon Greenstone Panatier, a law firm that has brought talc-mesothelioma suits against talc suppliers. Pecos River, a J&J subsidiary formed to handle talc-related liabilities, filed the request Tuesday in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.
