- Big Law firms are turning their attention to South Florida
- Foslid is former Greenberg Traurig litigation group leader
Litigation veteran Adam Foslid has joined Winston & Strawn’s growing Miami office, the firm announced Monday.
Winston is among a growing list of major law firms making a play in South Florida. The firm launched its Miami office in May with six partners and added more lawyers last month.
Foslid previously chaired Greenberg Traurig’s litigation department in Miami. He joins Winston from Stemphauzer Foslid Sloman Ross & Kolaya, a firm he founded.
Other recent additions for Winston include Carl Fornaris, who had been co-chair of Greenberg Traurig’s regulatory and compliance practice and the blockchain and digital assets group, and Jared Kessler in the litigation department. Winston also recently snagged litigation partners Craig Rasile and Nicholas Rodriguez from Greenberg Traurig.
Winston, which was listed as No. 43 on the American Lawyer’s 2022 list of largest law firms and had $1.15 billion in revenue, noted that its South Florida expansion is being driven by client demand.
“Miami’s increasingly dynamic business growth means clients have an even greater need for litigation counsel to avoid or resolve disputes that may arise,” said Miami office managing partner Enrique Martin.
Foslid focuses on complex commercial, business, class action and product liability litigation.
Winston & Strawn’s clients include Bayer, which acquired Roundup manufacturer Monsanto in 2018. Along with co-counsel Shook, Hardy & Bacon, the firm represented Bayer in a $39.55 million settlement to resolve class action claims over allegedly misleading labeling on the herbicide. Challenges to the settlement on grounds it did not go far enough to benefit class members were rebuffed in June by a federal appeals court.
