A race discrimination trial against the Kansas City Royals was canceled after the team settled with a Black youth baseball coordinator who alleged he was fired because of his race.
Magistrate Judge Lajuana M. Counts of the US District Court for the Western District of Missouri signed on Sept. 8 an order canceling the pretrial conference scheduled for early next year. Kansas City Royals Baseball Club LLC and the plaintiff, Cleitus Ross, informed the court last week that the matter was resolved through a MAP mediation conference, the order said.
