New York State Law Pins Pay Transparency to the Boss’s Office

The New York state pay transparency law that took effect Sunday adds a new twist: Not only does it require a salary range alongside all postings for jobs in the state, but also those that report to a boss based there.

The law, signed by Governor Kathy Hochul last December, was modified to leave out requirements for every remote job out of state, but added that pay information be included if the job “will physically be performed outside of New York but reports to a supervisor, office or other work site in New York.” The legislation applies to New York City, which enacted ...
