A former US Postal Service mail clerk can try again on some claims that the agency wrongly fired him based on absences covered by his protected medical leave, a federal appeals court said Thursday.
The worker deserves another shot at showing he qualified for time off under the Family and Medical Leave Act on some of the days he missed work, the US Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit said. But the lower court correctly shut down his allegations that USPS denied him reasonable accommodations for his sickle cell anemia under federal disability law, the opinion said.
