Florida’s Attorney General sued three prominent medical organizations Tuesday over allegations they engaged in deceptive practices and racketeering by promoting gender-affirming care for minors without sufficient scientific evidence.
Attorney General James Uthmeier’s complaint in St. Lucie County state court targets the World Professional Association for Transgender Health, the Endocrine Society, and the American Academy of Pediatrics over their alleged development and promotion of clinical guidelines recommending gender-affirming interventions. Uthmeier alleges the groups violated the Florida Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act and the Florida Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organization Act.
