House Democrats are launching an investigation into the deal between the Trump administration and TotalEnergies to pivot the French energy giant’s offshore wind investments into natural gas projects.
The Trump administration in late March agreed to pay nearly $1 billion to TotalEnergies to release the company of their wind leases and direct funds to US oil and gas investments. House and Senate Democrats have questioned the deal’s legality. The deal came after the administration made it a mission to ax all offshore wind projects.
