House Republicans Propose $55 Million Funding Cut for EEOC

House Republicans want to reduce the EEOC’s budget to $379.5 million next fiscal year, a 12.8% decrease for the agency that enforces workforce discrimination laws.

The roughly $55.8 million cut for the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission was laid out in the fiscal year 2027 funding proposal released by the House Appropriations Committee Wednesday.

The agency is at a historic year low in staffing with its current $435 million budget.
