Social Media Age Verification Law in Virginia Barred by Court

Virginia may not enforce its social media age verification and parental consent law, a federal judge ruled Friday, finding it violates the First Amendment.

The law requires social media companies to use “commercially reasonable” methods to verify if users are younger than 16, and to limit time spent on their platforms to one hour per day unless they have their parents’ permission for more.
