Trucking Company Resolves EEOC Sex Bias Case for $5 Million (1)

Central Transport LLC will pay $5.5 million to resolve the EEOC’s lawsuit alleging the Michigan-based trucking company intentionally refused to hire qualified female drivers nationwide over at least the past ten years.

The company’s resolution will compensate the class of female truck drivers who weren’t hired, according to the consent decree signed by US District Court for the District of Arizona Judge John Tuchi on Thursday.

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission’s investigation uncovered reports of sex-based discrimination throughout Central Transport locations across the country, including instances of female driver applicants observing the company throwing their applications in the trash, according ...
