VA Barred From Buying Cheaper Blood Thinner Drugs From India

The US Department of Veterans Affairs violated “Buy American” rules when it decided to save money by purchasing blood thinner drugs made in India, and is blocked from proceeding with a non-compliant contractor, a federal court said.

Protester Cosette Pharmaceuticals Inc. showed that the VA improperly awarded a contract to Golden State Medical Supplies Inc., which sells drugs from India—a country that doesn’t comply with the Trade Agreements Act, Judge Eleni M. Roumel said in an order made public Monday.
