Elon Musk’s Starlink Won Tender for Internet Service in Mexico

Starlink, a unit of Elon Musk’s SpaceX, won a tender to provide internet and mobile phone service for Mexico’s state utility Comision Federal de Electricidad (CFE), a CFE official said at a press conference Wednesday.

• Internet deal valued from 778m pesos to 1.56b pesos; mobile phone from 888m pesos to 1.78b pesos
• Starlink to provide services through December 2026
• The contract would provide infrastructure for CFE’s program for internet access and mobile phone service throughout rural Mexico
