Kirkland & Ellis Tops M&A Advisers in Down Year for Deals (2)

Kirkland & Ellis was Big Law’s top mergers and acquisitions adviser in 2023, nabbing several top transactions in the slowest deals year in a decade.

The Wall Street law firm led the charge by both deal volume and count, advising on 603 deals worth nearly $343 billion, according to Bloomberg data. Its lawyers advised private equity firm Hellman & Friedman, which owned a stake in cybersecurity firm Splunk Inc., which Cisco Systems Inc. bought for $28 billion. They also advised energy giant ONEOK Inc. on its acquisition of Magellan Midstream Partners for nearly $19 billion.
