Robocall Onslaught in House Energy and Commerce Sights

Lawmakers have their sights set on stopping unwanted robocalls and will examine a half a dozen bills aimed at doing just that at a House Energy and Commerce subcommittee hearing today.

Stop, Before They Call Again! The panel will discuss legislation that would, among other things, expand the scope of calling equipment covered under the federal robocall law and require wireless carriers to provide free call-blocking technology to their customers.

Meanwhile, in the Senate: A bill that would increase the FCC’s enforcement authority to crack down on robocalls is already making its way through the Senate. A Senate Commerce subcommittee ...
