DOGE Unable to Duck Access Suit for Labor, Health, CFPB Data (1)

The Trump administration’s Department of Government Efficiency must confront allegations it’s illegally trying to access computer systems and data at a trio of federal agencies, a district judge ruled Wednesday.

Judge John D. Bates declined to dismiss a coalition of unions, nonprofits, and a think tank’s claim that DOGE is acting beyond its legal authority, according to a memorandum opinion in the US District Court for the District of Columbia.

Defendants’ motion to dismiss “points to no legal source that grants USDS the authority to take these actions,” the opinion noted.
