Eric Tung, a former Justice Department lawyer, was confirmed to a federal appeals court seat in California over the objections of the state’s Democratic senators.
The Republican-led Senate voted 52-45 on Wednesday along party lines to confirm the Donald Trump nominee to the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
He’ll replace another conservative, Judge Sandra Segal Ikuta, who announced plans to assume partial retirement when her successor is appointed.
