Harvard, UNC Affirmative Action Cases Set for October Argument

A high-stakes challenge to university affirmative action programs will be heard by the US Supreme Court in October, setting the stage for another blockbuster term.

The court announced Wednesday that it will hear the two cases, Students for Fair Admissions v. Harvard and Students for Fair Admissions v. University of North Carolina, on Oct. 31. The cases argue the schools’ admissions policies unconstitutionally harm Asian-American and white students.
