Immigrant Visa Fees Waived for Applicants From Some Countries

The State Department will waive fees for applicants who were denied immigrant visas under Trump administration travel bans that applied primarily to Muslim majority and African countries.

Applicants who are denied an immigrant visa may apply again but typically are required to pay associated fees again. The final rule, set to be published in the Federal Register Wednesday, follows through on a January 2021 executive order by President Joe Biden to reverse the travel bans and other Trump-era immigration restrictions.
