USCIS Furloughs Set for End of August Averted, Agency Says (1)

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services announced it has canceled pending furloughs that were to go into effect at the end of the month.

The agency said Tuesday it expects to be able to maintain operations through the end of fiscal year 2020, but warned that “aggressive spending reduction measures will impact all agency operations.”

Anticipated operational impacts include increased wait times for pending case inquiries with the USCIS Contact Center, longer case processing times, and increased adjudication time for aliens adjusting status or naturalizing, according to the USCIS announcement.
