The Justice Department is trying to fend off local disciplinary proceedings in Washington against a key ally of President Donald Trump during his challenge of the 2020 election results.
DOJ sued the District of Columbia on Wednesday in federal trial court, accusing legal disciplinary authorities of “punishing” Jeffrey Clark, then an assistant attorney general, for drafting an unsent letter about potential election fraud in Georgia.
