The US Attorney for the Southern District of New York announced a $202m settlement with Gilead Sciences, resolving claims the pharmaceutical manufacturer offered and paid kickbacks to doctors who spoke at events to induce them to prescribe the company’s drugs.
- “With this settlement, Gilead has taken responsibility for its conduct and agreed to pay a significant financial penalty,” US Attorney Jay Clayton said
- Gilead to pay $176.9m to the US, the rest to various states
