The upper house of the Austrian parliament approved Thursday amendments to domestic legislation implementing the global minimum tax for large corporate groups.
The amendments — part of a sweeping tax bill that updates more than 20 tax-related laws — incorporates the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development’s administrative guidelines of Dec. 15, 2023, May 24, 2024, and Jan. 13, 2025.
These include clarifications of the tax treatment of transparent, hybrid, and reverse hybrid entities; additional rules for the recognition and reconciliation of deferred taxes; and adjustments to transitional safe harbors designed to temporarily ease compliance burdens.
