The Alabama Legislature has enacted HB626 to amend the Code of Alabama regarding tax increment districts, allowing Major 21st Century Manufacturing Zones to be located within tax increment districts without size restrictions and expanding the types of industries that qualify for these zones to include ship building-industry related. The legislation permits ad valorem tax revenues collected within tax increment districts to reimburse costs incurred by public entities for land acquisition within Major 21st Century Manufacturing Zones prior to the creation of the tax increment district. The law takes effect immediately. [H.B.626, enacted 04/17/26]
