Albania Parliament Considers 2023 Budget Bill

The Albanian Parliament (Kuvendi I Shqiperise) Oct. 17 accepted for consideration the 2023 budget bill. The bill includes measures to: 1) increase the non-taxable monthly salary threshold to 50,000 Albanian leks (US$420) from 40,000 leks (US$336); 2) exempt excise tax on accumulators for electric vehicles and solar panels; 3) set a zero percent VAT rate on the import of electric vehicles; 4) set a 33 percent special tax rate for excess profits of electricity exporters; 5) gradually increase the excise duty on beer each of the next five years, through 2027; and 6) include service providers as free professions in ...
